However, whilst many families found the experience ‘helpful’, there were still technical issues with access to video devices and connection quality which risk increasing health inequalities. Questions were also raised by families with regards to selecting patients for whom digital consultations are appropriate. The plateau in non-attendance rates across the three time periods also demonstrated that digital consultation is by no means a solution for non-attendance. As a result of our surveys, which is now part of life QI, patients in our service, where appropriate, are now given a choice of mode of consultation. This shows patient driven change and ensures a patient-centred service.
